Our bioinformatics platform includes two training servers in the ICDLI and the High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is one of the top centers of computational excellence and provide the newest supercomputer in China. The computing power in ICDLI is provided by Dell R920 server with 80 CPU cores and 0.5 TB memory. The HPCC computing power consist of 656 CPU 2 X Intel Xeon Scalable Cscade Lake 6248 with memory of 12 X Samsung 16GB DDR4 ECC REC 2666. The HPCC computing power also includes eight GPU DGX2 nodes of 16 X NVIDIA Tesla V100 (32G) with memory of 8 X 3.84 TB NVME SSD (30 TB) as well as Dell R380 server of with 80 CPU cores and 3 TB memory.
These super large computing resources promote the research and teaching in ICDLI. By taking advantage of the bioinformatics platform here, we are able to solve the problem on microbial genomics, metagenomics, microbial ecology and evolution. By combing different advanced programs and methods, we published a series of high quality works in the research fields such as bacterial and archaeal ecological distribution, global metagenome survey, comprehensive comparative genomic studies as well as illustrating the evolutionary history of bacteria and archaea. These results have been published in Nature Microbiology, PNAS, ISME J, Environmental Microbiol, FEMS Microbial Lett, BMC Genomics, Marine Genomics.
